The Uttarakhand government’s Rural Development department is launching the Lakhpati Didi Yojana as part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The government hopes that by 2025, at least 1.25 lakh women affiliated with various self-help groups (SHG) in the state would be able to earn more than one lakh rupees a year (Lakhpati). Uttarakhand, founded on 9th November 2000, and following the division of Uttar Pradesh, will be 25 years old in 2025.
– The CM introduced the ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana,’ which aims to make 1.25 lakh women from self-help organizations’ Lakhpati’ by 2025. – The state will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025, and the project will also be completed by then. – Under the targeted livelihood project, 1.25 lakh women from self-help groups would become ‘Lakhpati.’
– Women in self-help groups (SHGs) would be encouraged to start micro-enterprises with skill development under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ plan. – The government would collaborate with e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and the Government e-Marketplace to bring SHG products to national and worldwide markets.
Anand Swarup stated that the app has been used to begin the work of training coordinators at the block and district levels under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme. Women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will be encouraged to start micro-enterprises with skill development under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme. – By organizing 3 lakh 5000 women in 39,116 self-help groups in 95 blocks of the state, 4 thousand 310 village organizations and 259 cluster-level organizations have been formed.
Sustainable microenterprises, as well as skill development, will be encouraged to double the income of women involved with these organizations. Women in SHGs have traditionally been limited to picking, papad, handicraft, vegetable, silk, and fruit production. These women will be trained in jobs such as electrician, plumber, tent house, mason, manure making, organic farming, and LED bulb production in the coming days. Amazon, Flipkart, Mantra, PayTM Mall, and the Government e-Market Place (GeM) are also collaborating to provide a fair market for women’s products from Self Help Groups.
The state government has taken various initiatives to economically empower women. He stated that a Rs 5 lakh interest-free loan was given to a women’s self-help group (SHG). Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra to spend 5% of their travel expenses on local goods. The Chief Minister Dhami stated that the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme would make every effort to economically strengthen the state’s women.
According to the data on livelihood outreach, one in every six women has been reached. There is a lot of work to be done in the field of livelihood. – Livestock, agriculture, manufacturing, and other income-generating activities – Income can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. – Income ranges in Rs. such as 25000, 25000-6000, and so on. – The SECC tin number of SHG members is being seeded. – Aadhar Number Seeding – Changing the instructional language.
DAY-NRLM has made a concerted effort to improve the livelihoods of SHGs and their member households through farm and allied sector activities as well as non-farm activities. It is likely that poor SHG households/members engage in a variety of activities and generate income that is not counted. As of Uttarakhand Government doesn’t reveal any update regarding the application, required documents, and eligibility criteria. Thus, we need to wait till the official updates.
