The National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship is government-sponsored. NMMS provides poor students with a scholarship worth INR 12,000 annually to encourage them to finish their secondary education. The MCM scholarship, which becomes active in November, provides close to 100,000 scholarships to outstanding students each year.
The NMMS Scholarship aims to encourage brilliant and underprivileged students to finish their secondary and upper secondary levels of education to reduce school dropout rates after the eighth grade. Every year, students in grades 9 through 12 take two tiers of state-level selection examinations to be eligible for the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship.
Every year, NMMS awards 100,000 scholarships to the chosen students, for INR 12,000 annually, or INR 1,000 per month. – Students in class 9 receive a scholarship in one lump sum, i.e., INR 12,000 each academic year. – The scholarship is extended each year until the student completes his or her Higher Secondary level of study (Class 12). – NMMS encourages the candidates to receive clear promotions into a higher class each year.
– Candidates for this NMMS scholarship must be full-time students enrolled in class 9 after receiving a clear promotion from class 8 and possess a minimum GPA of 55% or above. – The candidates need to be students of the government-sponsored, locally run, or government-aided schools. – To continue receiving a scholarship in upper secondary school, the candidate must get at least 60% on the class 10 board test.
– The scholarship recipient must successfully advance from class 11 on the first try with a score of 55% or equal to continue the scholarship in class 12. The SC/ST students are also getting relaxation of 5%. – The yearly family income of the aspirants should not exceed INR 1.5 lakh. – Students enrolling in NVS, KVS, Sainik schools, or private institutions are also ineligible for this NMMS scholarship.

– The candidates must first register as new users on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by providing all the necessary information. – The scholarship applicants need scanned copies of all required papers on hand as they start the application process. – The applicants need to provide the required documents. – When a candidate registers on NSP, an application ID is produced. This application ID is used on NSP as the ‘Login ID’ and for future reference.
– While candidates enrolled in classes 11 and 12 must apply under the Post Matric scholarship category, those enrolled in classes 9 and 10 must do so under the Pre-Matric scholarship category. – The applicant must be cautious while entering information such as his or her name, date of birth, email address, identity details, and cell phone number. – Upload all required papers and save the information as a draught. – The candidate must submit the completed application form after checking that all information is valid and relevant.
Mental Ability Test (MAT) - The 90 multiple-choice questions on this test evaluate students’ critical thinking and reasoning skills.The majority of the questions might be focused on subjects like categorization, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figures, analogies, etc. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) - The SAT has 90 multiple-choice questions. According to the curriculum for grades 7 and 8, the SAT covers the topics of science, social studies, and mathematics.
