This scheme is known as the PM SHRI Yojana, and it was announced by the Prime Minister in a tweet on the occasion of Teacher’s Day on Monday, September 5th, 2022.

There will be a focus on cutting-edge technology, smart education, sports, and contemporary infrastructure. The National Education Policy has altered the educational landscape in recent years, according to the Prime Minister’s tweet.
The primary goal of the PM SHRI Yojana is to renovate 14,500 old schools in India. Children may be connected to smart education by revamping these schools. These schools will strive to generate individuals who are holistic and well-rounded to meet the skill requirements of the 21st century. The educational system in India will take on a new place by allowing underprivileged students to enrol in smart schools.
This scheme will renovate around 14,500 old schools in India. Contemporary infrastructure, smart classrooms, sports, and other modern infrastructure will be focused on the renovation of these historic institutions. All of these schools will be built along the lines of Kendriya Vidyalayas, which will be built across the country.
Kendriya Vidyalayas / Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas is wholly administered by the Ministry of Education at the Centre. The Union government entirely funds them through Central Sector Schemes. While JNVs were created to develop exceptional children in rural regions of the nation, KVs are mostly used to serve the children of Union government employees stationed in states and UTs.

The list of schools picked for this purpose has yet to be provided by the Centre. t has been revealed, however, that the PM SHRI schools would also “guide” other schools in the area. These schools will include state-of-the-art facilities such as labs, computer-aided learning environments, libraries, sports facilities, art studios, and other amenities.
They will be built as green schools with energy-efficient architecture, water conservation practices, garbage recycling, and curricula including organic living. A centrally sponsored program is one in which the expense of execution is shared 60:40 by the Union government and the states/union territories.
