On January 26, 2016, West Bengal’s Chief Minister launched the Khadya Sathi Scheme. Under this policy, the state provides food security to those in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories. It is one of the West Bengal government’s poverty-reduction initiatives. The initiative covers around 90% of the state’s population and provides subsidized rice and wheat to beneficiaries. The initiative aims to provide uniform food distribution to state ration card holders by establishing a systematic food mechanism.
The scheme ensures that disadvantaged people can purchase food items of their choice. The state government aims to eradicate poverty in West Bengal by providing subsidies to persons living in poverty. In addition, the Scheme’s goal is to ensure food security for individuals living in poverty and to create a hunger-free state.
– Beneficial for those in the EWS and BPL categories – Rice and white rice are available at a low cost. RiceRs. 2/- per Kg, WheatRs. 2/- per Kg – People in need are given food security. – Provides a simple application process for adding or removing members. – There is no need to carry a physical Ration Card. – Ration can now be obtained simply by displaying an e-Ration Card on a mobile device or a copy of it printed on plain paper.
– The applicant needs to be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of West Bengal. – He/ She must fall under the BPL and EWS category. – Requires a current ration card (if their ration card has expired, applicants can take advantage of the scheme after renewing their ration card.) – The applicant must not hold government employment.
– Digital copy of Ration Card – Voter ID card – Aadhar card – Address Proof. – Income certificate – Passport-sized photograph of the applicant – Birth Certificate of Applicants under the Age of 5 Years.
– You will get the Khadya Sathi form from the Ration Shop. – Collect the application form and fill it out carefully. – Attach all essential documents to the application form. – Submit all the papers in the same ration shop. – Concerned officials will double-check the information. – After verification, the selected beneficiary will receive the Khadya Sathi Card.

– Visit the Department of Food and Supplies Portal. – Choose the “Khadya Sathi Beneficiary” option. – Select “New Applicant” and enter the Mobile Number. – Enter the received OTP to verify the mobile number. – Fill out the Khadya Sathi Application Form and upload all necessary documents. – Then, preview it and click the “Submit” option. – Department officials will review the completed Khadya Sathi Form. – After verification, the selected beneficiary will receive the Khadya Sathi Card.
– Go to the official website, and enter your mobile number. – Enter the received OTP and click the ‘Login’ button to access your account. – Now, select the ‘Status’ option to view your Khadya Sathi Status.
– Go to the Google Play Store on your device. – Search for the Khadya Sathi App. – Select the topmost result, and click on it. – Click the “Install” option to download it on your device.
