West Bengal Govt started Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Sabuj Sathi, and other public schemes. This time the government started the Aikyashree Scholarship Programme for financially poor backgrounds and minority students (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains) in West Bengal. They are trying to provide more socio-economic benefits and educational opportunities to them.
Students from Class 1 to PhD level can apply for various West Bengal Government scholarship schemes through the WBMDFC Aikyashree Scholarship Portal. This scheme includes hostel stay fees and free-of-cost school and college education for needy meritorious students.

Eligibility Criteria For West Bengal Aikyashree Scholarship Scheme
There are different eligibility criteria for a different scheme, go through the following points-
West Bengal Pre-matric Scholarship (SC/ST Students)-
- The student must be a permanent and legal resident of West Bengal State.
- The student must be studying in class 9th or class 10th
- The applicant must belong to SC or ST category
- The annual family income of the applicant should be less than Rs. 2 lakh
West Bengal Post-matric Scholarship-
- The Student must be a permanent resident of West Bengal
- The student must be a student studying in Class 11, 12, Graduation or Post Graduation.
- They must belong to the SC, ST, or OBC category.
- The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed-
- Rs. 2 Lakh for SC
- Rs. 1 lakh for OBC
- Rs. 2.5 Lakh for ST
Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship-
- The applicant must be a permanent and legal resident of West Bengal State.
- The applicant must have passed class 12th.
- The student must belong to the SC, ST, or OBC category.
- Only female students can apply for this scheme.
- The applicant must be studying Engineering, Medicine or Basic Science at a known institution in West Bengal.
Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM)-
- The student must be a permanent resident of West Bengal
- The student must be a student studying in Class 11 or 12.
- The applicant must be pursuing graduation in Engineering, Medical, and Technical/Professional courses if they are not studying the general Undergraduate or Postgraduate level degree courses.
- If the applicant is studying at the higher secondary level or pursuing a diploma, he or she must have secured at least 75% marks in class 10th.
- The annual family income of the applicant should be less than Rs. 2.5 lakh.
- Applicants pursuing M.Phil. courses and Doctoral courses from state-aided institutions are also eligible.
For Hindi Scholarship Scheme, West Bengal-
- The student must be a permanent resident of West Bengal State.
- The student must have passed any one of the following degree courses – Madhyamik, HS or Higher Secondary, UG, PG, or any equivalent degree course
- The student must belong to a non-Hindi-speaking state.
- The applicant must have secured at least 60% marks in the earlier qualifying exam, in the first trial, with Hindi as one of the subjects.

Aikyashree Scholarship Programmes

Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship, West Bengal | Only for female students.For students who have qualified for class 12th from any board in West Bengal. Female students can apply for this scheme if they’re seeking an undergraduate degree course in Basic Science/ Engineering/Medicine at any institute in West Bengal The chosen students will get Rs. 3000 per month and also a yearly book grant of Rs. 2000. |
Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM) | This is a merit-cum-means based scholarship. Students from Class 11 to PhD level candidates can apply for this scholarship programme. Financial support of up to Rs. 8000 per month |
Hindi Scholarship Scheme, West Bengal | This scholarship is offered to assist and support students studying the Hindi language in Non-Hindi speaking states like West Bengal. Students studying in higher secondary, undergraduate, postgraduate and research level courses (M.Phil., PhD or M.Lit. etc.) can apply for this scholarship. Students can avail of the scholarship amount ranging from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1000 per month. |

Benefit Of the Aikyashree Scholarship
The benefits of the Aikyashree scholarship scheme are given below:-
- The scheme will provide educational loans to poor students who are very good at their studies and they’ll be financially independent at a small age with the help of their education
- The minority community women will be able to undertake benefit from this scheme and secure their life
- Due to this scholarship scheme, the literacy ratio of the West Bengal State will be increased
- Training will be provided to the students for various competitive examinations and the skills of the students will be upgraded.
Selection Procedure Of the West Bengal Aikyashree Scholarship Scheme
- The concerned authority will consider the marks that they have got in the previous examination and their family income to select the candidate
- If you are applying for a renewal scholarship then the student must obtain more than 50% off marks in their previous examination.

Online Application Process
- Visit the WBMDFC Aikyashree Scholarship website “https://wbmdfcscholarship.org/”
- On the homepage, Click the “New Registration” / “Student Registration” and fill in the mandatory details, like- your Name, Guardian’s Name, DOB, Mobile Number, Email, Bank Account Number, and District.
- Click on the “SUBMIT” button
- On the next page, Enter your Current Institution Name, Address, Percentage of Marks obtained in the Last Examination, and Annual Family Income and then Click on the “SUBMIT” button.
- You will get a user ID and Password for your application through your email
- Login to the website using your User ID and Password and complete the scholarship application process by filling in your Basic Information and Academic Information. Verify your bank account information.
- Take a printout of the application form. Make itself attested with all required documents with it. Then submit this application form to the head of your institution for further verification.
Renewal Process
- Visit the official website “https://wbmdfcscholarship.org/”
- On the homepage, click on the option called Renewal Application.
- A new page will be displayed on your screen, select your district and click on OK
- Now log in using your user id and password
- You’ll get an OTP on your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP.
- Click on submit and Renew Application
- Enter your mandatory details and click on Submit and Next.
- Enter your previous and current academic details and click on Submit and Next.
- To verify your bank details, check the account details carefully then click Submit and Next.
- Upload all of the documents and review your details.
- Click on Submit and Lock Renewal Application.
- By clicking on the Print Renewal Application button, you can take a printout too.

- On the homepage, click on the “Track an application” option
- Enter correct credentials and the captcha code that appears on the screen.
- Then, click on the “search” option.

Yes, you can apply for the SVMCM scholarship in 2nd year as well.
Students who must be permanent residents of West Bengal can apply for this scholarship and belong to SC or ST category.
Candidates must have passed with a minimum of 50% marks in their last exam, a minimum of 75% marks in the Secondary examination, a minimum of 53% marks for honours in any postgraduate course, and a minimum of 55% marks in any professional course.
