Gatidhara Scheme West Bengal
Mamata Banerjee, the state administration of West Bengal, launched the Gatidhara development scheme, which provides government-employed but unemployed youths with incentives to purchase commercial cars with government aid.
The government has requested that certain other developmental enterprises, such as TATA’s institutions, receive loans and other financial support from the state-owned cooperative bank Grameen Bank.
The Gatidhara initiative provides financial help in the form of a loan, which is approved by all Nationalized Banks, Co-operative Banks, and Grameen Banks. Under this initiative, the project cost for the acquisition of a small and medium vehicle shall not exceed Rs.10,000,000.

Eligibility Criteria for the Gatidhara Scheme

- The applicant must be a West Bengali citizen.
- The applicant’s age range should be from 20 to 45 years old. Candidates who identify as SC, ST, or OBC may have their upper age restriction lowered by up to five, three, or four years, respectively.
- The recipient’s total monthly household income cannot be more than Rs. 25,000.
- The applicant must hold a current commercial driver’s license.
- A family can only have one member eligible for a subsidy.
- Candidates who have previously obtained a loan through BSKP, USKP, or any other program are also qualified for this program.
- Moreover eligible are those who get Yuvashree benefits, which include the cessation of the allowance upon the disbursement of the bank loan.

How to Apply for the Gatidhara Scheme?
- Download the application form, affidavit, and income certificate.
- Then, take a printout of every PDF file and fill it up carefully.
- Attach all the required documents.
- Submit them to the office of the Joint Director of Employment Kolkata District in the case of the Kolkata municipal corporation area or to the respective sub-divisional officer (SDO).
- Choose a lender for the loan necessary to purchase a car.
- The vehicle would registered within one month of receiving the permit and subsidy offer letter from the scheme.
- The “Gatidhara Scheme” is facilitated by authorized vehicle dealers.
Funding Pattern
After the entrepreneur’s contribution and the subsidy are received, the loan will be disbursed within 15 days. The interest rate will be competitive with the rates offered by the West Bengal government’s comparable initiatives. Five to seven years are allotted for loan payback.
- The applicant receives financial help from the State Government in the form of a 30% subsidy of the project cost, as long as the total stays under Rs. 1,00,000.
- The entrepreneur is granted a term loan by the bank that covers 65% of the project’s cost.
- The remaining 5% of the project’s cost should be provided by the applicant as margin money.
