Lakhpati Didi Yojana 2022

The Uttarakhand government’s Rural Development department is launching the Lakhpati Didi Yojana as part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The government hopes that by 2025, at least 1.25 lakh women affiliated with various self-help groups (SHG) in the state will be able to earn more than one lakh rupees a year (Lakhpati).

The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative will encourage women in self-help groups (SHGs) to launch micro-enterprises with skill development. The government will collaborate with e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to ensure that SHG products are available in national and international markets.

Uttarakhand, founded on 9th November 2000, and following the division of Uttar Pradesh, will be 25 years old in 2025. The state administration has set a goal of making 1.25 lakh women Lakhpati by 2025 to honour the event.

Features of the Lakhpati Didi Yojana

The CM introduced the ‘Lakhpati Didi Yojana,’ which aims to make 1.25 lakh women from self-help organizations’ Lakhpati’ by 2025.
The state will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2025, and the project will completed by then.
Under the targeted livelihood project, 1.25 lakh women from self-help groups would become ‘Lakhpati.’

Benefits of the Lakhpati Didi Scheme

According to Anand Swarup, the app used to start the task of training coordinators at the block and district levels under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ plan.
Following the survey, various jobs will be provided to various groups of SGH for their annual salary to achieve one lakh rupees.
The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ plan will encourage women in Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to launch micro-enterprises with skill development.
As a result, the state will organize 20,000 additional self-help groups this fiscal year, allowing more women to benefit from the program.
The state has developed 4,310 village organizations and 259 cluster-level organizations by organizing 3 lahks 5000 women into 39,116 self-help groups in 95 blocks.

Furthermore, there are now twenty-four growth centres, nine cluster block-level outlets, thirty-three nano packaging units, and thirteen district-level outlets (Saras Centers). There is now an outlet at Jolly Grant airport as well.
Along the Chardham Yatra pathways, 17 temporary outlets have been established. SHGs sell their final goods on their behalf.

Types of Products & Facilities

The goal of skill development and sustainable microenterprises is to quadruple the income of women who work with these organizations.
The National Institute of Rural Development and the Uttarakhand Institute of Rural Development will train women for all new positions.
Women in SHGs have traditionally been limited to picking, papads, handicrafts, vegetables, silk, and fruit production.
Shortly, these women will receive training for careers in fields like organic farming, manure production, masonry, plumbing, electricianing, tent housing, and LED bulb manufacturing.
The NRLM program will bring these groups together under one roof to market the SHGs’ final products, dispersing the work to various groups and creating a chain. This will also make it easier for the groups to obtain bank loans.
Efforts will be made under the scheme to market the state’s products on a national and international scale. Amazon, Flipkart, Mantra, Paytm Mall, and the Government e-Market Place (GeM) are also collaborating to provide a fair market for women’s products from Self Help Groups.
Additional Pradeep Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of Aajeevika Mission, stated that the state currently has two state-level Uttara outlets. One is located in Ranipokhari, and the other is in Raipur. Their number will grow in the coming days.

Government Involvement in the Lakhpati Scheme

The state government has taken various initiatives to economically empower women. He stated that a Rs 5 lakh interest-free loan was given to a women’s self-help group (SHG). Dhami stated that SHGs are promoting local products.

He also said that during his recent visit to the border village of Mana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra to spend 5% of their travel expenses on local goods. This would boost our local products and help women’s incomes grow. The CM stated that Prime Minister Modi has always been committed to economically empowering women.

Rural development minister Ganesh Joshi stated on the occasion that the State government, led by Chief Minister Dhami, is working quickly to empower women. He stated that the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme would make every effort to economically strengthen the state’s women. The CM and other guests on the occasion assisted women earning more than one lakh rupees per year through SHGs as ‘Lakhpati Didis.’

DAY-NRLM has made a concerted effort to improve the livelihoods of SHGs and their member households through farm and allied sector activities as well as non-farm activities.

According to the data on livelihood outreach, one in every six women has been reached. The area of livelihood requires a great deal of work. Poor SHG households/members are prone to engage in a variety of activities and create uncounted money.

Furthermore, tracking income increases through livelihood interventions has proven difficult. To understand the current state of livelihood and income of SHG member households, the Mission collects the following income information from SHG members before and after joining the NRLM fold:

Livestock, agriculture, manufacturing, and other income-generating activities
Income can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
