Lakhpati Didi Yojana 2022

The Uttarakhand government’s Rural Development department is launching the Lakhpati Didi Yojana as part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The government hopes that by 2025, at least 1.25 lakh women affiliated with various self-help groups (SHG) in the state will be able to earn more than one lakh rupees a year (Lakhpati).

The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative will encourage women in self-help groups (SHGs) to launch micro-enterprises with skill development. The government will collaborate with e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to ensure that SHG products are available in national and international markets.

Uttarakhand, founded on 9th November 2000, and following the division of Uttar Pradesh, will be 25 years old in 2025. The state administration has set a goal of making 1.25 lakh women Lakhpati by 2025 to honour the event.

Types of Products & Facilities

  • The goal of skill development and sustainable microenterprises is to quadruple the income of women who work with these organizations.
  • The National Institute of Rural Development and the Uttarakhand Institute of Rural Development will train women for all new positions.
  • Women in SHGs have traditionally been limited to picking, papads, handicrafts, vegetables, silk, and fruit production.
  • Shortly, these women will receive training for careers in fields like organic farming, manure production, masonry, plumbing, electricianing, tent housing, and LED bulb manufacturing.

  • Additional Pradeep Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of Aajeevika Mission, stated that the state currently has two state-level Uttara outlets. One is located in Ranipokhari, and the other is in Raipur. Their number will grow in the coming days.

Government Involvement in the Lakhpati Scheme

The state government has taken various initiatives to economically empower women. He stated that a Rs 5 lakh interest-free loan was given to a women’s self-help group (SHG). Dhami stated that SHGs are promoting local products.

He also said that during his recent visit to the border village of Mana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked pilgrims visiting Uttarakhand for the Char Dham Yatra to spend 5% of their travel expenses on local goods. This would boost our local products and help women’s incomes grow. The CM stated that Prime Minister Modi has always been committed to economically empowering women.

Rural development minister Ganesh Joshi stated on the occasion that the State government, led by Chief Minister Dhami, is working quickly to empower women. He stated that the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme would make every effort to economically strengthen the state’s women. The CM and other guests on the occasion assisted women earning more than one lakh rupees per year through SHGs as ‘Lakhpati Didis.’

Furthermore, tracking income increases through livelihood interventions has proven difficult. To understand the current state of livelihood and income of SHG member households, the Mission collects the following income information from SHG members before and after joining the NRLM fold:

  • Livestock, agriculture, manufacturing, and other income-generating activities
  • Income can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
  • Income ranges in Rs. such as 25000, 25000-6000, and so on.
  • The SECC TIN of SHG members is being seeded.
