UPSC NDA 2023 Notification
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued the UPSC NDA 2023 exam on December 21, 2022. UPSC administers the NDA exam for admission to the Indian Defence Force – Army, Navy, and Air Force wings. This exam is the first step toward becoming an officer in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.

Eligibility Criteria for Applying for the NDA Exam
The candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria for applying for the NDA 2023 Exam.
Nationality
- Citizen of India, or a Subject of Bhutan, or Nepal, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
NDA Age Limit
- Only unmarried male and female candidates born between July 2, 2004, and July 1, 2007, are eligible.
Educational Qualification
For the Army Wing of the National Defence Academy | The candidate should be 12th pass/HSC or equivalent examination from a State Education Board or a University |
For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy | The candidate should have completed their 12th Class/HSC or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics from a State Education Board or a recognised University. |
Candidates enrolled in the 12th grade through the 10+2 School Education or equivalent examination is also eligible to take the UPSC NDA examination.
NDA Physical Standard
- Running: 2.4 km in 15 minutes
- Skipping
- Push-ups & Sit-ups: Minimum 20 each
- Chin-ups: Minimum 08
- Rope Climbing: 3.4 meters

Application Process and Selection Procedure of UPSC NDA 2023
Eligible candidates need to visit the official website and fill up the online form. Upload the required documents and pay the application fee if any. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.
The selection procedure of the NDA 2023 includes two stages.
- Written examination
- Intelligence & Personality Test (SSB)
A candidate who passes a written examination will be invited to take a personality test to assess intelligence and personality. To be included on the merit list, candidates must pass both stages. UPSC will generate a merit list/final result based on the cumulative score of the Written Exam, and the SSB will be considered for final selection.
Application Fees & Vacancy Details of UPSC NDA 2023
A general category candidate’s application fee is Rs 100/-.
The fee can be deposited in any SBI branch in cash or by using the State Bank of India’s net banking facility or directly by using a Visa/ MasterCard/ Rupay Credit/ Debit Card.
SC/ST candidates, sons of JCOs/NCOs, and ORs are exempt from paying the fee.

NDA 2023 Exam Pattern
Candidates who are preparing for the NDA 2023 exam must be familiar with the UPSC exam pattern. The following are the specifics for the NDA 2023 Exam Pattern:
- The exam will be given in a paper-and-pencil format.
- The questions will be in the form of multi-choice questions.
- The questions will be asked in both English and Spanish (English & Hindi)
- There will be a 0.83-point deduction for Math, a 1.33-point deduction for English, and a 1.33-point deduction for GK.
