Group Housing Society/Resident Welfare Association will get ₹ 18,000/- per KW subsidy for common facilities, incorporating EV charging, with a maximum capacity of 500 KW, which includes rooftop plants built by individual GHS/RWA homeowners. However, some special states will get an additional 10% Subsidy per KW.

Eligibility Criteria for Applying the PM Surya Ghar Scheme

  • The consumer must be an Indian citizen.
  • The household must own a house with a roof capable of installing solar panels.
  • The consumer must have a valid electricity connection.
  • The household must not have received any additional solar panel subsidies.
  • Your PAN and Aadhaar should be linked to a bank account.

Application Procedure: Consumer Registration Process

Register on the Portal

  • Under the “Consumer” section, select “How to Apply” on the homepage.

  • Enter your Mobile number and verify the using OTP.
Login with your mobile number
  • After successful verification, select your State and Electricity Distribution Company (DISCOM), and your electricity consumer number/account number.
  • Next, enter your Email ID and verify with OTP, and click ‘save’ your profile.
NOTE: On vendor select popup, click on ‘Yes’ if you want your vendor to fill the application for you, or else ‘No’

Log in and Fill Application

  • After registration, log in to your account
  • Fill in the Application Form with the following details.
    • Name and address
    • Aadhaar number
    • PAN (linked to bank account)
    • Rooftop area and electricity usage
  • Upload required documents.
    • Latest electricity bill
    • Aadhaar and PAN copy
    • Property ownership proof (if required)

Choose an Approved Vendor

  • After that, select a vendor from the portal authorized by your DISCOM
  • These vendors are responsible for supplying and installing the solar panel system
  • Get quotes and finalize based on your budget and requirements
NOTE: Once you get the feasibility approval, select the vendor and submit your bank details to receive the Subsidy.

Technical Feasibility Approval

  • After submission, your local DISCOM will review the application.
  • A technical officer may visit to inspect the rooftop at this time.
  • Once approved, you will get technical feasibility clearance

Installation of Solar Panels

  • After approval, the selected vendor installs the rooftop solar system
  • Ensure proper net metering setup (which tracks power usage and savings)
PMSG Registration Process

Inspection & Commissioning

  • Post-installation, DISCOM will inspect the system
  • If everything is satisfactory, they will commission the system
  • Now, your solar system will be connected to the grid

Subsidy Disbursement

  • Once the system is commissioned, upload a photo of the system
  • Submit the installation report and bank account details
  • The subsidy amount (up to ₹78,000) will be directly credited to your bank account via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
Estimated Time: Depending on DISCOM and vendor speed, the total process will take one to two months (30-60 days).
