Agnipath Scheme for Agniveer: Serving in an army in Indian Armed Forces is a dream among the youth of India. A historic decision has been taken regarding this profession. On June 14, Union Cabinet had approved a new recruitment scheme for Indian Youngstars to serve in the Armed Forces. The name of the scheme is AGNIPATH. The selected candidates under this scheme will be called AGNIVEERS.

Know all about Agnipath Scheme

Under this scheme, every year 40,000 to 50,000 youth will be recruited below the age of 18(17.5 years) to serve any of the services like the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force.

As Agneeveers, they will serve the country for 4 years. This scheme recruits candidates below the rank of officer, with a positive goal of deploying more younger troops in the frontline with a four years contract.

After four years of service period, 25% of the Agniveers will be retained in the regular cadre based on merit, willingness, and medical fitness. They will surely then serve for another 15 years in full term. While the other 75 percent of Agniveers will be demobilized, with an exit or “Seva Nidhi” package of Rs 11-12 lakh.

Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar confirmed that women will also be inducted into the armed forces under this scheme.

How to become Agniveer

The youth who will serve the country on the frontline under this scheme will be called Agniveer. The age group of Agniveer should be between 17.5 years to 23 years. Agneever will be those who favor patriotism, teamwork, enhancement of physical fitness, and uprooted loyalty to the country.

Educational Qualification and Posts for Agnipath Scheme

SoldierClerk / StoreKeeper Technical	10+2/Intermediate pass in any stream(Arts, Commerce, Science)with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and at least 40% in each subject. There is weightage for higher qualifications.
Soldier Nursing Assistant	10+2/Intermediate exam passed in Science with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with min 50% mark in aggregate and min 40% in each subject. Now eight age for higher qualification.

Agniveer Salary package under Agnipath Yojana

Candidates or Agniveers will be given an attractive customized monthly package along with Risk and Hardship allowances as applicable in services.
On completion of their contract period of 4 years, Agniveers will be paid one time ‘Seva Nidhi’ package of Rs 11.71 Lakh which shall comprise their contribution including interest thereon and matching contribution from the Government.
In the 1st year, the salary for Agneeveers will be near Rs. 4.76 lakh per annum which will increase to Rs. 6.92 lakh per annum for the final year. The ‘Seva Nidhi’ package will be free from Income Tax.

How to apply for Agniveer under Agnipath Scheme

The vacancies will be made available on the respective websites joinindianarmy.nic.in, joinindiannavy.gov.in, and careerindianairforce.cdac.in.

The first agneeveers will be recruited between September or October 2022.

The Home Minister has announced that the Agniveers will get 10% reservations in CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
