West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme 2023

The West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme is also known as the “Senior Citizen Pension Scheme of West Bengal” and the “Senior Citizen Financial Assistance Scheme of West Bengal”. The West Bengal government would offer a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000 to all qualified elderly recipients. The system only allows for monthly pensions for individuals who are 60 years of age or older. A beneficiary who is disabled may only be older than 55. An eligible beneficiary can apply by completing the offline application form.

Objectives of the Old Age Pension Scheme

The initiative is being implemented for the benefit of poor elderly persons who are unable to support themselves. The scheme included elderly persons who had little or no regular means of subsistence from their sources of income or financial assistance from family members or other sources.

Benefits of the Scheme

  • The eligible beneficiary will get ₹1000 rupees monthly stipend.

Eligibility Criteria for Applying the Scheme

  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of West Bengal or have lived here for the past 10 years.
  • The Age must be 60 years. For a disabled person, the age limit is 55 years.
  • Applicant’s monthly income should be less than ₹1000/-

Application Process of West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme

  • You can download the application form from the official site and take a printout of it.

  • Or, you can collect the form from the following places.
    • Sub Divisional Officer Office in Urban Area.
    • Block Development Officer/ Panchayat Samiti Office in Rural Area.
  • Fill up the application form carefully, and attach the required documents.
  • After that, submit it to the following office from where you got the application form.
  • Your application and the documents will be scrutinized by the officials.
  • After initial verification, the District Magistrate will provide final approval.
  • Then only the beneficiaries will get the financial assistance.
