West Bengal Fishermen Old Age Pension Scheme

A subscheme of the Jai Bangla Scheme, the WB Fishermen Old Age Pension Scheme would give all qualified elderly fishermen in the state a monthly stipend of Rs. 1000. The nodal department for this project is the Department of Fisheries. Any fishermen who turn sixty years old or older are eligible to receive a monthly pension. To be eligible for the scheme, a fisherman must register with the Department of Fisheries.

Objectives of the WB Fishermen Old Age Pension Scheme

At a certain age, fishermen are no longer able to work in the field and have no source of income after they retire. Thus, the primary goal of the Fishermen Old Age Pension Scheme is to offer social security and secure their income source.

Eligibility Criteria for Applying the Scheme

The West Bengal government has set the following eligibility requirements for the Scheme.

  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of West Bengal or have lived here for the past 10 years.
  • Applicant should be a Fisherman.
  • The Age of Fishermen should be 60 Years or Above.
  • Fishermen should not be a beneficiary of any other Pension Scheme.

  • The officials of the Department of Fisheries will check your application and the documents.
  • After successful verification, the beneficiaries will get monthly financial assistance to their bank account.
